It seems that only after Clint Eastwood addressed a grotesque phantom Obama in an empty chair, did we clearly recognize that the Republican Party and its advocates, since forever, have been concocting a false image of the President that we were supposed to substitute for the real one.

I think Mr. Eastwood perceived this in these simple terms before the rest of us did. His exaggeration of what should have been obvious focused our attention. I think it was intentional. How else do we reconcile what he did at the convention with our knowledge of what he stands for in his films ?

I think he did what he did in order for us to get it!

What I found most interesting was what Eastwood found fault with Obama for. None of the party talking points. And none of them were things Romney will do differently. The major problem the Romney people are facing is that they have this version of Obama in their heads and that’s who they are running against but he’s not real and their tactics make it clearer and clearer.

Indeed! Their program has always been to create a fake image of Mr. Obama to misrepresent the real one. I realized later that this artifice had already been used, most successfully unfortunately, to misrepresent the real Ronald Reagan.

PS. Amanda, yours was my first comment ever! Thank you!!!
